Timeless melodies beautifully performed on a variety of instruments are David Whyne’s musical style. David’s love of music has always been part of his life and despite some personal challenges or perhaps because of them, he has developed into an accomplished musician. Pianos and synthesizers were his first choice of instruments but he soon expanded to flute, guitar and vocals. Some of David’s inspirations came from musicians such as, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Beethoven, Henry Mancini, Ray Charles, and others. Perseverance and high standards, have helped further David’s natural talents.
When not making music David’s is an avid athlete and is part of the Special Olympics of Ontario. He was inducted to the Barrie Sports Hall of fame after competing for team Canada in Alpine Skiing and winning medals in the 2017 World Winter Games in Austria. He also participates in many other sports; golf, curling, track and field, cross country skiing, and others.
Through the years, David's musical talent was rewarded by numerous first place gold medals and an "Outstanding Performer Award" on piano at the Kiwanis musical competitions. He recently won the Artist Beyond Barriers award at the 2022 Barrie Arts Awards Gala. David studied digital music production at the Metalworks institute in Toronto and continues to train with the Canadian Musicians Cooperative. David also enjoys composing his own music and has a few of his songs posted on YouTube.
The versatility and appeal of David’s all time favorites repertoire has earned him many performance contracts to entertain in formal gala affairs such as the “Spirit Catcher Awards” gala dinner, the “Kiwanis Club Past Presidents’ Gala,” “Barrie’s Multicultural Celebration,” and “Pearson’s International Airport Live Performance,” among others. David regularly entertains seniors at retirement homes.
